Inspiration
My brother, Wesley Mahler, was diagnosed with autism at age two and epilepsy at age eleven. This has intensified my passion for raising mental/developmental health awareness and participating in various philanthropies for children who suffer from serious illnesses. As a film major, I created zines based on my experience with autism and epilepsy and films based on the crippling effects of loneliness and anxiety; I am finding my voice in art as advocacy.Â
My mother was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in her early twenties. My mother and brother drive my desire to pursue a career in healthcare communications. I would love to learn more about rare diseases and developmental disorders alongside public relations. Again, my family is my inspiration.
